Troop 786 February 12, 2012 Elections

Troop 786 will have their first election on February 12, 2012 at ADAMS Sterling. The following positions are open for election:

Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)

One position is open. It is the most challenging job for a scout in the troop.

Duties:

• Runs all troop meetings, events, and activities
• Runs the Patrol Leaders' Council (PLC) meetings
• Appoints other troop leaders with counsel of Scoutmaster and delegates tasks to junior leaders
• Appoints Assistant Patrol Leader
• Serves as a member of and chairs the Patrol Leaders' Council(PLC)
• Sets a good example
• Wears the Scout uniform correctly
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law
• Shows Scout Spirit

Patrol Leader (PL)

Three positions are open: one for Cobra patrol, one for Flaming Arrow, one for Phoenix.

Duties:

• Appoints the assistant patrol leader
• Represents the patrol on the patrol leaders' council
• Plans and steers patrol meetings.
• Helps Scouts advance
• Keeps patrol members informed.
• Knows what his patrol members and other leaders can do.
• Sets a good example
• Wears the Scout uniform correctly
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law
• Shows Scout spirit

Troop Election Ground Rules

1. All positions must be confirmed or deemed eligible by the Scoutmaster.
2. All candidates will be notified of eligibility by February 8th
3. If there are no eligible individual for elected positions, Scoutmaster will select two candidates from which an election may take place.
4. If there are no eligible individuals for appointed positions, Scoutmaster will select two candidates from which appointment authority may choose from.
5. On election day, all candidates must be present to be eligible and elected.
6. Candidates will be allowed to give a 2 minute speech as to why they should be elected.  All campaign speeches must be in accordance with Scout Oath and Law.  Any violation will void eligibility.
7. All Leader elects must attend the training course - Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops the following weekend to be confirmed in position.  If the leader elect cannot make it to the training, the leader elect will be disqualified to serve until the next scheduled elections.
