Here are basic job descriptions for youth and adult leadership roles.

Elected Youth Leadership Positions

Position Youth Description

President

Mansouna Kochaji

Serves as youth leader of the crew; implements the crew program in cooperation with the other officers and members; works closely with Advisor and other adult leaders in a spirit of partnership; represents the crew at council meetings; assist crew advisors at crew officer’s seminar; presents annual reports to charter organization; with the approval of the advisor, appoints chairs for projects.

Administration Vice President

Jasmin Ullah

Serves as administrative officer to the crew; assumes responsibilities of the crew president if absent; leads the recruiting and admission of new members; recognizes achievements of crew members; is responsible for opening and closing on special occasions; keeps an up-to-date crew roster.

Program Vice President

Open

Arranges program planning process; collects and maintains crew activity file; determines the interest of the crew members; provides support for the activity chairs and committees; maintains an up-to-date calendar of meetings and activities; appoints chairs for projects and activities.

Appointed Youth Leadership Positions

Position Youth Description

Secretary

Open

Manages communications and publicity for the crew; maintains crew membership and attendance records; is responsible for all crew correspondence and minutes; creates a communication every month to be distributed to all crew members.

Treasurer

Open

Maintains financial records and monitors the crew’s budget; collects and disperses funds; communicates information about the crew’s finances to the crew members.

Quartermaster

Open

Responsible for the Crew supplies and equipment.  Keeps an inventory of and maintains equipment in good working order.  When equipment is lent to a Crew member, the Quartermaster monitors the safe return of that which was loaned.  The Crew Quartermaster generates a list of equipment and supplies needed by the Crew for future acquisition.

Crew Guide Open Serves as an individual mentor for new Venturers, assisting in their understanding of the Venturing program and participation in Crew activities.
Historian Open Collects and preserves memorabilia, press releases, photos, and other data of historical significance to the Crew.  Maintains information about Crew activities and erstwhile Crew members.

Adult Leadership Positions

Position Adult Description

Committee Chair

Abdul Rashid Abdullah

The crew committee is composed of adult members from parents, chartered organization members, and other interested adults who support the crew program.  Their responsibilities are as follows:

  • The chair conducts monthly committee meetings and coordinates crew efforts.
  • The treasurer advises the youth treasurer and assists with fund-raising activities.
  • Committee members assist youth activities chairmen to carry out their responsibilities.

Tariq Abidin

Committee members assist youth activities chairmen to carry out their responsibilities.

Crew Advisor Uzma Rasheed An adult volunteer age 21 or older who is selected by the chartered organization and has responsibility for attending crew meetings, training youth officers to plan and coordinate the program, conducting the program capability inventory, and helping youth plan and implement activities.
Associate Advisor Joshua Salaam An adult volunteer age 21 or older who is selected by the Crew Advisor and the Committee and has responsibility for attending crew meetings, coaching and mentoring youth to plan and implement activities.  Typically one Associate Advisor works directly with the Administration Vice President, the second Associate Advisor works directly with the Program Vice President.
Associate Advisor Open An adult volunteer age 21 or older who is selected by the Crew Advisor and the Committee and has responsibility for attending crew meetings, coaching and mentoring youth to plan and implement activities.  Typically one Associate Advisor works directly with the Administration Vice President, the second Associate Advisor works directly with the Program Vice President.
Consultant Rahima Ullah Consultants interact with the crew by providing technical expertise, special skills, equipment, facilities, or community contacts related to the crew program.  They may be one-time participants.
